Talks at University of Pittsburgh GSPIA on December 6 and 7

220587_026_gspia_0043I gave two talks at the University of Pittsburgh’s Graduate School of Public and International Affairs on December 6 and 7.  My first talk was about Four Crises of American Democracy, at the Johnson Institute for Responsible Leadership at 4:30pm on December 6.  Details here | Watch this talk on YouTube.  On December 7, I talked about “A new approach to Public Administration.”   The December 7 talk drew on this paper.

Talk at Truman School on November 11

I’ll be giving a talk in the TSPA seminar series on November 11.  The title is: “Developing a broader approach to public administration.”  The slides for this presentation can be downloaded here.  A related paper can be downloaded here.  The talk will be held at noon in S110 Memorial Union.

Canadian Bar Association panel on future of access to information

pa280002I participated in a panel discussion on the future of access to information at the Canadian Bar Association’s Access to Information and Privacy Law Symposium in Ottawa on October 28.  The program is here.  The panel included Michel Drapeau, Murray Rankin MP, and David Loukidelis.

Visit to CIDE for 40th anniversary of MAPP

cvpgqmsuaaev6opI visited the Centro de Investigación y Docencia Económicas (CIDE) in Mexico City on October 20-21 to participate in events marking the 40th anniversary of their Masters degree in Public Policy and Administration.  Details here.  I participated in a panel on October 20 that examined the question: Does ‘Public Management studies’ have a future?  A recording of my brief comments can be heard here.

Talk at KU School of Public Affairs and Administration

Keynote address at conference on democratic governance

I gave the keynote address at the 3rd International Conference on Democratic Governance in the Developing World in Washington, DC on July 19.  My topic was “One world: Building a single body of knowledge for statecraft.”  Listen to the address here | Overview of the conference here.

Talk at Lee Kuan Yew School on March 9
